Nollaig, born in 1977, comes from Dungiven, County Derry in the Northwest of Ireland. It is a town steeped in Irish culture and heritage. Nollaig's parent's Anne and Francie Brolly are a famous singing duo from the area. Her father Francie, a songwriter, was the music and Irish teacher in the local school and was at the heart of the Irish cultural revival that took place there. Anne Brolly, her mother, won the All-Ireland Fleadh for traditional singing and toured the world with Comhltas Ceolteoiri Eireann. Under these influences, Nollaig grew up to be an accomplished musician and performer and a fluent Irish speaker.
